Pranavi was in eighth grade when she, for the first time, penned a poem about her father. It was been much appreciated both by her teachers and her parents. But back then, she considered herself to be a realist. She believed writing was to be considered a hobby and not a vocation. So she soldiered on and took the path of science, which she followed right up until the third semester of Engineering.
In the break between semesters, she discovered an app called Wattpad, an app that allowed you to publish on the go on their platform. Though she only used it to read the work of others, the “Start Writing” column had been nagging her for a while. It wasn’t long before she gave in. She didn’t think much of it and started writing a chapter of a story that she hadn’t known to have existed within her each day. At the end of a month, with twenty-five chapters of her work penned, she began to get a sinking feeling. Every day that she attended classes, her characters would peep through her books or dance on the whiteboards, trying to catch her attention. She was torn. One day, as her lecturer was teaching her ‘Fourier Series’, she asked herself, “What am I doing here?”. That’s the day she quit Engineering.
Mark Twain once said, “The two most important days in your life are the day you are born, and the day you find out why.” She believes that on that day, she discovered the answer to the latter part of the quote.
Since then, she has been on the path of writing, trying to hone my skills to the best of my ability. She completed her Bachelor of Arts, with English Literature, History and Political Science as her majors.
